Oh, my gosh. Is July almost over? The summer two-thirds gone? And so many of the fun, exciting and enriching things we planned to do over the summer still undone? Oh, mercy. Mercy me. I’d better get on the ball, and fast.

Where did our summer go? I guess when I look back on it, the season hasn’t been a total wash. This week, The Boy and a friend have been having a great time at a weeklong summer Lego class at the Athenian Academy. I am proud to report that on Saturday, he tested for, and received, his orange belt in tae kwon do. And, of course, there’s that lemonade stand and puppet show that is still in the planning stages. So we’ve been having fun, and learning at the same time. But there are so many outdoor things that we didn’t do because of the oppressive heat, and so many indoor things that we didn’t do because, well, because one day it was the middle of June, and then I looked away for a moment, and it was the end of July. I know I’m not the only one who experienced this. Somebody help me out. Can I get a witness?

In the interest of making myself accountable, maybe if I mention some things we still hope to do here, in front of all of you nice people, I will be more likely to actually make them happen. So, in no particular order, here are the FUN THINGS WE HAVE YET TO DO THIS SUMMER:

That’s my list. It’s not too ambitious, right? Feel free to steal some ideas — or offer more! We’ve got just over a month to go. Let’s try to make it count.
